A college search engine portal was built for a US based global university specializing in various educational degrees and certifications through online and classroom based programs. This portal was built to assist students in finding the right institution for higher education. The solution was developed using Drupal, Varnish and jQuery.
Objective
Selecting the right school/university isn’t easy. It is one of the most important decisions we make as students. Our client needed a university search/college finder portal that would be an authentic, one stop source of school related information for users. Some of the things that the university search engine would help with were: picking the right neighborhood school for high-school students, information about transfers to/from a college/university and other campus specific data to aid parents/students alike in their decision making process. The solution had to be scalable, high performing and follow the latest UI design patterns to deliver an intuitive user experience.

- Time-consuming & manual process of finding the right college based on specific criteria
- Lack of communication between students & universities
- Low response rate about university facilities, grades, financial aid information, class schedules, & graduation checks
- No real-time updates about learning, sports, clubs & community services opportunities
Approach
Rishabh Software’s team developed the college search engine using Drupal website development CMS platform. The main focus was on building algorithms to represent large data-sets while supporting fast searches. Leveraging the core features and external add-ons of Drupal CMS (Content Management System), Rishabh Software build a scalable, high performance search portal with fresh and light-weight design templates in accordance with responsive design standards. The solution was built in a planned phase manner, starting with a “Proof of Concept” to test and validate market acceptance of the proposed concept to developing the final portal solution.
